Operations Summit Spotlight Webinar Series – Cybersecurity

Operations Summit Spotlight Webinar Series
CanREA proudly presents a series of free operations-focused webinars, leading up to the CanREA Operations Summit 2022, this year’s must-attend event for wind, solar, and energy storage site operations in Canada. These three sessions provide a preview of the type of content you can access at the two-day, in-person event in Toronto on May 31 and June 1. In anticipation, join us for informative and engaging panels on three key topics: cybersecurity, circular economy and extreme weather, insofar as they affect the operation of renewable energy sites. This webinar series will provide important learnings for Canada’s operational staff, regardless of what stage of project construction, maintenance or decommissioning they are working on. (in English only)

Webinar 3: Cybersecurity
May 26, 2022
1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET

The third webinar in this series will focus on the critical issue of cybersecurity.

Canada’s critical-infrastructure defenders are currently being asked to bolster their awareness and protection against certain cyber-threats.

As the keepers of important power-generation assets, renewable-energy operations and maintenance professionals will play a critical role in keeping the lights on across the country, amidst targeted energy-infrastructure attacks.

In this cybersecurity operations-focused webinar, you will hear from key organizations in North America’s cyber security awareness and defense network, who will speak directly to Canadian wind, solar and energy storage operators and service providers. This is an important webinar providing awareness and learning on cybersecurity issues that will be helpful for anyone using information and operational technology (IT/OT) in their daily work, whether their official title relates directly to cyber security or not.

Michael Russell of the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security will provide an update on cyber security threats to Canada’s critical infrastructure and some resources for site staff to pursue.

Andrew Lackey of the Energy Infrastructure Security Department of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) will provide some additional context and insight into what they are seeing, and the networks being established to protect Canada’s energy infrastructure against current and emerging threats.
