Launched in 2022, the Electricity Transition Hub (“the Hub”) brings together electricity utilities and system operators for capacity-building activities related to renewable energy and grid modernization projects in Canada.
The Hub aims to share relevant knowledge and skills through a curated resource library known as the Electricity Transition Hub Electronic Resource (ETHER) library, as well as a quarterly report of the latest recommended resources, quarterly meetings and an annual Hub Summit.
The Hub is an independent program of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA), funded by the Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways (SREPs) program. Read the funding announcement press release here.
Hub participants can contact the Electricity Transition Hub Manager at EThub@renewablesassociation.ca for access to the Electricity Transition Hub Electronic Resource (ETHER) website.
To ensure the continuation of progress made by the NRCan funded Electricity Transition Hub, CanREA has launched a new program for Hub participants and an expanded group of organizations working to integrate renewable energy into Canada’s networks. The Utility GRID Integration Program combines all of the benefits of CanREA membership with the knowledge sharing and mobilization work established over three years of Hub operations.
Electricity Utilities, Governments (including municipalities, provinces, federal agencies, etc.), Regulators, ISOs, and Distributors and NGOS working on the Integration of renewables and energy storage are now able to join CanREA as Megawatt level members or higher to take advantage of Program benefits along with all member benefits including policy updates, industry news, event discounts, and much more.
Any utilities and system operators who would like more information about continuing their participation in the Electricity Transition Hub through this new program, accessing the ETHER site, attending the annual Hub Summit, or other information, are encouraged to reach out to Electricity Transition Hub Manager at EThub@renewablesassociation.ca. For those looking to join the Program, visit our full memberships page or contact our membership team to learn more about the membership level that is right for you.
