Webinar-NRCan Update: IEA’s Photovoltaic Power System Program

November 23, 2022, 1 to 2 p.m.

CanREA was pleased to host a Natural Resources Canada webinar on November 23, in which NRCan’s Yves Poissant highlighted the recent activities and accomplishments of the International Energy Agency’s Photovoltaic Power System Technology Collaboration Program (IEA PVPS).

Preliminary market data shows that, despite a second year of COVID-19 pandemic, the global PV market grew significantly again in 2021. In fact, according to the IEA PVPS, at least 175 GW of PV systems were installed and commissioned around the world last year, bringing the total global cumulative installed capacity for PV to more than 942 GW at the end of 2021.

For almost three decades, the IEA PVPS programme has brought together experts aiming to accelerate the integration, operation and ultimately the acceptability of solar photovoltaics in a wide range of applications. This global network of researchers and policy experts shares the latest technology research findings and best practices to advance Solar PV energy deployment, as solar energy becomes one of the cornerstones of the ecological transition required to face the climate emergency.

Speaker:

Yves Poissant is a PV Technology Specialist and Research Manager at Natural Resources Canada’s CanmetENERGY and Canada’s delegate to the executive committee of the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power System Program.
