Canada has one of the cleanest electricity grids in the world: more than 80% of the electricity we use is already non-emitting, and the sector has reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by more than 45% since 2005. But there’s much work to do to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. As Canada moves towards addressing climate change through decarbonization, electricity will represent a bigger share of the energy that Canadians use. Electrification will require a coordinated, focused approach between industry and government.
