Liberty Power – Manager, Asset Strategy (Oakville, ON)

Purpose

Manages the overall profitability and ongoing viability of the large-scale operating assets in Liberty Power’s wind portfolio.  Responsible for realizing the expected value and return of the assets either directly or through coordination and collaboration with other departments.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for developing budgets and reforecasts as well as long term business plans to ensure viability of assets under management
  • Perform continuous portfolio review analyses and identify areas that require special attention                    
  • Manage project specific contracts (i.e. PPA, LGIA, LTSA)
  • Identify capital requirements and opportunities; ensure the appropriate capital is available, and that capital projects are appropriately managed and executed
  • Responsible for making recommendations on capital investments, asset improvements and asset disposition for assets under management    
  • Focus on continuous improvement and optimization of the assets to extract maximum value
  • Participate in the development and implementation of business planning systems used to manage business strategy
  • Stay current with the state of the power generation markets in North America, with specific focus on government grants/subsidies, changes to market rules and regulatory changes
  • Internal liaison between various departments, such as Operations, Engineering, Asset Performance, Energy Services, and EH&S, to ensure activities are effectively coordinated
  • Monitor and establish mitigation for all risks to business performance and corporate strategy
  • Work closely with Business Development and Construction teams to support projects under development and under construction and transition new assets from construction phase to operation phase
  • Ensure that projects are properly insured and manage insurance claims
  • Accountable for key stakeholder relationships

Education and Experience

  • Demonstrated Managerial/Supervisory experience
  • 10+ years of related professional experience
  • 5-7+ years managing specific or similar business
  • Experienced in & strong understanding of complex, project-specific contracts & their requirements
  • Understanding of tax-equity structure & modelling
  • Experienced in Risk Mitigation, Portfolio Optimization, Financial Performance of Wind Assets
