Ces secteurs repr\u00e9sentent 68 % de la production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 annuelle au Canada.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le gouvernement du Canada s\u2019est donn\u00e9 pour objectif de ramener \u00e0 z\u00e9ro ses \u00e9missions nettes de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre (GES) dans tous les secteurs de l\u2019\u00e9conomie d\u2019ici 2050, un objectif qu\u2019ont \u00e9galement adopt\u00e9 certains partenaires dans l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne, au Royaume-Uni et dans certains \u00c9tats am\u00e9ricains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour y parvenir, le Canada devra enfin \u00e9liminer les combustibles fossiles dans le secteur de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, puis passer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 propre pour alimenter en grande partie les transports, les b\u00e2timents et les industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019objectif pour 2050 n\u00e9cessitera des efforts hercul\u00e9ens, mais nous avons une longueur d\u2019avance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quelque 68 % de notre \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 nous vient d\u00e9j\u00e0 de sources d\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9olienne, hydraulique, solaire et marine renouvelables. C\u2019est trois fois et demie la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 actuellement produite \u00e0 partir de combustibles fossiles (charbon et gaz naturel surtout) au Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce au vaste potentiel inexploit\u00e9 des \u00e9nergies renouvelables au Canada, le secteur de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est bien plac\u00e9 pour jouer un r\u00f4le majeur dans notre futur bouquet \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique sans \u00e9missions, sans compter que nous avons la capacit\u00e9 de passer \u00e0 un r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique qui n\u2019\u00e9met pratiquement aucun GES au cours des 30 prochaines ann\u00e9es.
