Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA)- Membership Sales Coordinator

The Role

CanREA is searching for a highly motivated, and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team as our Membership Sales Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about sustainability, the environment, and wants to play an active role in transforming Canada’s energy mix. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, Finance and Operations, the Membership Sales Coordinator will drive the research to generate and populate our list of prospective member companies, schedule sales meetings, and will be the primary point of contact for member sales related activities.

This is a contract role, ending February 28th, and exists by way of funding from EHRC’s Discovering Potential Program. As such, the incumbent must meet the selection criteria set out by the Program, and will be required to participate in and complete Program-related activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sales Manager and the other staff of the Membership and Business Development Team in all activities related to researching prospective member companies and attracting these companies as new members of the Association.
  • Generate and continuously populate a prospective list of member companies using CanREA’s numerous lead generation channels.
  • Research prospective member companies to determine key information (new or active in renewable energy, operating sector, technologies involved, projects involved in, reason for joining etcetera), and ensure the collection of all contact information.
  • Arrange and schedule sales meetings for the Sales Manager and other staff of the Membership and Business Development Team.
  • Input data and information about prospective members and current members into our Association Management System (i.e., Database). Support the development and implementation of the membership renewal and recruitment programs.
  • Assist in the creation of reports, information, or members lists as required by various departments.
  • Act as the primary member contact for membership sales related activities, including managing the [email protected] inbox.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as determined my Executive Management as required.  


  • University degree in a relevant area of study or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 1-year minimum experience working in sales-based research and administration functions.
  • Strong market and company sales-based research skills.
  • Strong client services skills.  
  • Excellent data entry skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to synthesize complex ideas and communicate them to both internal and external stakeholder audiences in a straightforward, easy to understand manner.
  • General knowledge of the renewable and energy storage industry is an asset.
  • Experience working with or for non-profit or membership-based associations is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. French (written and spoken) is an asset.
  • Ability to balance independence with productive teamwork, thanks to your strong work ethic, conscientiousness, time-management skills, organizational abilities, emotional intelligence and two-way communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining discretion, tact, good judgement, respect for others and a sense of humour, even when moving at top speed or adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a high-level of energy, enthusiasm and initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn.
  • Strong knowledge of software systems including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and information management systems (i.e., database systems).
  • Experience working in a remote capacity, with all its perks and pitfalls.

Our team has moved to an entirely remote working arrangement. Occasional travel (5-10%) is anticipated in future, mainly across Canada.
